The story of Adibah

In the times of success, courage and happiness lived a poor girl named Adibah who wanted to accomplish something in her life. She dreamed about fulfilling her goals every day. In the night, she would get up to pray Salatul Tahajjud and during the day she would work hard to earn money for her family.

Her beauty was in her smile that never faded no matter what. Patience was her strength that would hold on to with her faith…

One day, she cooked some food in her home. After eating their supper, Adibah’s mother asked Adibah to wrap it up and give it some to her neighbors. In her neighbor’s house was sitting a stranger old man who she has never seen before. He was a tall man with white-gray hair dressed in a white suit.

Adibah greeted her neighbor and left to finish her daily chores in her house. The old man was a rich man who was friends with Adibah’s husband, he paid his respect to everyone. He asked Adibah’s neighbor, Kamaria about her. Kamaria told him about Adibah and how she dreamed about studying and accomplishing her goals. When the old man tasted the food, he felt surprised. He never tasted such delicious food in his life.

He was very impressed with Adibah and decided to pay for her college. He visited Adibah’s house and helped her join college. He paid for everything.

A few weeks later, Adibah starts college for the first time. She felt very nervous about everything. Soon she became overwhelmed with the studies and everything. She went to her mom in tears and told her she couldn’t do it.

Her mom looked at her with a smile and told her a story.

Adibah’s mother, Ramona said,

“Once I met one of my school teachers who told me about one of her students.  The teacher taught science to the children at an Islamic school. In her class was one girl who would come up to her after class and asked her questions. The next day, the girl would ask her the same question over and over again. The teacher felt irritated because no matter how much she would explain to her student, the girl would not remember it. One day the girl told the teacher that she had a very hard time remembering things. The teacher gave up on her and thought to herself that the girl would never be able to do good in her studies. After a few years, the teacher went to the mall for shopping. In the mall, one unknown Muslim woman said Salam to her and gave her a hug. The teacher felt confused and didn’t know who she was. The woman told her that she is the mother of one of her students. She thanked the teacher for all her help and proudly said, “My daughter is a doctor now Alhamdulillah”. The teacher could not believe what she heard”

Ramona looked at Adibah and said,

“My daughter I believe in you. I know you can do it Insha’Allah. I have faith in you and don’t worry. If you are willing to work hard you can go to the distance. Dedication and hard work can take you to any height. So, do your best and Insha’Allah you will succeed in your life”.

Adibah thanked her mother and believed in herself. A few years later, she became a successful teacher in her town and helped many students accomplish their goals like hers.

[Note: The story of the girl who became a doctor is a real story]

“Whoever works righteousness, man or woman, and has Faith, verily, to him will We give a new Life, and life that is good and pure, and We will bestow on such their reward according to the best of their actions.” (Qur’an 16:97)
